Pediatrician Mary Ian McAteer, MD trained at IU School of Medicine and Riley Hospital for Children. She is board certified in general pediatrics and has worked in private practice in the Indianapolis area for nearly 30 years. Mary has long been active in support of local, state, and national initiatives to improve the health of children. Mary serves on the Board of Directors of the Indianapolis Medical Society, is a past Vice President of and continues to be active in the Indiana Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. As a delegate to the Indiana State Medical Association she has sponsored legislation regarding children’s health and authored resolutions that the organization uses to create policy. Dr. McAteer was instrumental as medical leader of the Indiana Joint Asthma Coalition’s efforts to create and utilize a state-wide asthma action plan for preschool and school-aged children. Dr. McAteer has presented topics at national and state-wide meetings regarding asthma and medical home and has published in the popular media about the importance of the medical home in the innovation and improvement of our health care system.
